Chiropractic Adjustments

Our backs are responsible for supporting our bodies and protecting the conduit for all our nerves. Impacts, exertion, or overuse, whether in the form of acute injuries or chronic wear-and-tear, can result in the spinal discs and vertebrae becoming misaligned. Chiropractic adjustments are designed to place the vertebrae back into their proper place on the spine. Dr. Keith Billstein of Motion Wellness Chiropractic performs this service for Anoka, MN, and the surrounding areas.

How Do Our Vertebrae Become Misaligned?

The spinal column is designed so that the vertebrae are neatly stacked on top of one another with a specific range of motion,  and most are separated by a disc. Sudden impacts, incorrectly bending, twisting while carrying something - many things are capable of leading the vertebrae or discs to come out of place.

The most common causes tend to be auto and home accidents, athletic activities, and improper lifting. Use over a long period of time can also lead to misalignments, even with no impacts or specific activities.

Misaligned vertebrae can pinch the disc or nerves in the area. If this happens, it can result in pain, numbness, and/or tingling. Compression of the vagus nerve can also interfere with organ function and hormone regulation, and compression of tissues in the neck can cause radiating headaches.

Do Chiropractic Adjustments Treat Misalignments?

Manually placing the vertebrae back into their proper fit will return the spine to its proper form and function. Motion Wellness Chiropractic also uses the instrument-assisted Activator method. Discs or nerves that were pinched will be relieved, reducing the pain and other symptoms caused by the pinch. This will also relieve the muscles that were overworking to compensate for the weight imbalance caused by a misalignment. Dr. Keith Billstein is also trained to perform this procedure on animals, as their spines function much the same as ours do.
